have been teaching for 22 years. Having completed my 4 year BA Ed Hons (QTS) in Music and PE at Exeter University, I embarked on my teaching career in Key Stage 2 at a small village primary school in Kent. 8 years later, I was seconded to a school in Dartford which had been placed in special measures, this experience led me to an interest in SEN and inclusion. In 2005, I completed my diploma in Speech and Language.
In 2015, I joined the governing body for Selling and subsequently Petham and finally Dymchurch. Shortly after, I joined Petham as an Early Years teacher, following a maternity cover at Selling Primary School in Key Stage 1. In 2017, I took on the role as acting SENCO and in 2019 became SENCO at Dymchurch primary working across both Petham and Dymchurch with an aim to create inclusive schools within a rich learning environment for all children.Â
I am passionate about teaching and support, every child, to reach their potential in a supportive, caring and stimulating environment. Having completed my NASEN degree, I am fully aware of the barriers that children face in today's school environment and I strive to support all staff to remove these barriers for children to enable every child to learn within the classroom, alongside their peers, where possible.
As an associate governor and SENCO at both schools, I am committed to supporting all of the children to have the best opportunities both in an out of the classroom in a safe and happy learning environment.Â
