Home Learning

Dear parents and carers,

Each week I will be uploading a timetable of activities for your child to complete at home. I have tried to follow the structure of a normal school day as closely as possible to allow you to maintain a familiar routine whilst learning from home. These activities include reading, English and maths. There will also be a 'wider curriculum' activity assigned through Purple Mash for your child to work on during the afternoons. Every child has a login to access all digital platforms, however, if misplaced please contact us.

A new timetable will be available on this page every Monday morning for the school week ahead.

Term 4

This term we will be learning about the rainforest.  We will be finding where rainforests are located around the world and why they are situated where they are.  We will also be learning about the layers of the rainforests and what this means for the plants and animals that live in the rainforest.  This also ties in with our science which is living things and their habitats.  We will be learning about different types of animals, life cycles and how plants reproduce.  In art and DT we will be working towards creating a diorama of the rainforest which will help us to combine our learning of the rainforest. In ICT we will be learning about databases.

In English we will be learning about how to write persuasively.  We will be writing persuasive letters on how we can save the rainforest.  In maths we will be learning about multiplication and division and working on solving problems that require more than one-step to find the answer.

In RE we will be continuing to learn about the teaching of Jesus in the Christian faith.  This term we will be focusing on the Christian ideas surrounding forgiveness, justice and fairness, greed and generosity and how Christians apply these teachings to their modern day worlds.

Homework

Spellings and homework will be sent home every Friday and is to be returned for marking the following Wednesday.  Please encourage our children to look up any words they do not know in a dictionary.  It will also help handwriting, punctuation and sentence structure if your children put their spellings in sentences when practising.  We are still collecting Red Teds so please continue reading daily at home with your child and initial their diary to let us know they’ve read.

The Timetable

PE will be on a Wednesday and this term we will be going swimming.  Please ensure that your child brings in their swimming kit every Wednesday.  Children will also need to continue to bring in their normal PE kits for workshops etc.

This year will are very lucky to be able to have violin lessons which will take place every Friday.

Many thanks for your continued support.
