World Book Week - wow what an amazing week we had at Dymchurch. We gave all children in school amazing opportunities such as a 'bringing books to life' dance workshop where they focused on a story book and really became the characters! We also had a wonderful author and illustrator in to talk to the children about how the book is made, how long it takes for the book to be made and how they get inspired by their writing. The author also brought in the star of the show, Tiggy the Dog who is a wonderful therapy dog and met all of the children. Tiggy, in her books, goes on amazing adventures, and the book they saw was based all around Dymchurch!
We continued with book swaps, a successful family reading session in the afternoon inviting family members to come along and read with their children, and of course, World Book Day wouldn't be the same without dressing up!
We continued with promoting reading to the school by also inviting a Travelling Book Fair in for families and children to buy books. Alongside this we ran a 'create your own book character' competition for 5 children to win a £5 book voucher to spend at the book fair. Well done to our amazing winners and everyone for making our World Book Week a fantastic success!
Congratulations to us! Mrs Barden has worked hard to help us receive the music mark in recognition of a commitment to providing high-quality music education!
Go Team Dymchurch.
Year 2 and Year 5 enjoyed a fantastic trip to Kent Life today. Year 2 learnt all about food to fork, and how food is grown/produced and reaches our plates at home! The even tried Sauerkraut - which was a unique experience! Year 5 attended a brilliant workshop all about the Tudors, and all of the children managed to spend some time with the animals despite the rainy weather!
KiC Theatre was back in school, and Ian didn't disappoint! Each class had their own dedicated theatre workshop based on their current topic - from Tudors to Minibeasts, Music through the decades to Rosa Parks and rights to vote! The children thoroughly enjoyed their workshops with Ian and are looking forward to welcoming him back again soon!
Shooting Stars Entertainment visited us again this year for our panto, and they didn't disappoint. The children thoroughly enjoyed the show, laughing, cheering, screaming and joining in with the show!
Our Year 6 children visited the local war memorial in Dymchurch today by St Peter and St Paul's Church to pay their respects to those who sacrificed their lives and lay a wreath in honour of their memory. We will never forget and we will always remember the fallen. Thank you from us all.
With support from Folkestone & Hythe District Council and Magnox cost of Living Funding, our Dymchurch Donation Bank will be opening for our school families from Monday 6th November.

We've had Wizard Stories in today working with some of our children to be creative in their story writing and using their wildest imaginations through stories and music! Thank you Phil for such a fab time, the children roaring with laughter through the school is always wonderful to hear!
