Curriculum 

Welcome to year 1! 

Our termly Topic webs will give you more detailed information about what is being taught each term.

PE

PE will be on Monday and Thursday. Please ensure that your child comes to school in their PE kit on these days. Any earrings will need to be removed or covered with micropore medical tape during PE lessons. We may be outside even when it is colder so please provide jogging bottoms and jumpers on the colder days.

Reading & Home Learning.

In year 1 the children have a reading book that comes home every Thursday. This will be the book the children have been reading in their reading groups that week. This is linked to their phonics level so will be a book the children are able to read to their grown up at home.

The children will also have a book for pleasure that they have chosen from the library.

The children should read at home to help them with their confidence and fluency. The library book may have to be read to the children as this book may not be phonetically decodable. Please do write any reading in their yellow reading journal so we can celebrate their successes with them!
